Fall is a wonderful time of year; the mornings and evenings are just cool enough to assure us that once again, nature is ushering in the autumn season.  We all enjoy football season, and that means for us and our wonderful customers at Wallace Hardware, it’s fall dealer market time!

We enjoy hosting the two shows each year, one in the spring and one in the fall.  One of the things we enjoy most is having a portion of three days to see you, our customers and our vendors.  We love hearing how your business and family have been doing.

Each show has a theme.  Ed McKinney, our head buyer, picked the theme for this show and it was built around an autumn theme.  We called it, “Trip or Treat” …no tricks from us at Wallace Hardware.  We are offered five top prizes of trips to sporting events, Alaska and New York City or a choice of the same value in prizes.  Additionally, you had more than 25 opportunities to win cash or prizes.

Our five lucky “Big 5” winners had the opportunity to choose between winning a fabulous trip or an extraordinary treat.  John Steinbeck once said, “People don’t take trips, trips take people.”  This could never be truer for the trips we lined up for our winners.  The sights one will see on a 10-day Alaskan cruise will certainly take anyone’s breath away.  Experiencing the NCAA Final Four in

person is something most would never take for granted.  Even for non-golfers, taking in the beauty and majesty of Augusta National during the Masters is a bucket-list worthy experience.  Watching your favorite college football team take home the trophy from the NCAA National Championship game in Tampa Bay will be a very memorable trip indeed.  And we can’t think of a better journey to take than to New York.  Visiting the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Empire State Building, and everything else this city has to offer will definitely make a fabulous trip from which anyone could take away life-long memories!

If travel was not your idea of a rewarding experience, then we had some amazing treats from which to choose.  Who couldn’t use an outdoor kitchen?  If you’re a techie, you loved the complete home automation package we put together.  Do you like to fish?  How about an aluminum boat with motor and trailer?  Or if you preferred more practical prizes, then you loved winning a kitchen makeover or a zero-turn lawnmower.  Congratulations to all our winning dealers!

Another feature at this show, our fourth at the LeConte Center, was that each show has been larger than the one preceding it.  For this fall, our buyers found a way to shoehorn in an extra aisle, netting 32 additional booths.

The proceedings all started on Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2016 with a Tailgate Kick-off Party at 3:00 p.m. in the Greenbriar Room.  Yes, “It’s football time in Tennessee,” so all you dealers and vendors wore your team colors and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and ice cream as we tapped to music by Pigeon Forge’s Jim Smith and Gary “Biscuit” Davis.

It was a great dealer market and you, our dealers and vendors, once again made the magic of the Wallace Show happen!
